Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 45 year-old pedestrian in Dix Hills.
The pedestrian was standing in the westbound lanes of Jericho Turnpike, just east of East Deer Park Road , when he was struck by a 2009 Ford van.
The 45 year old male, of 73rd Ave., Oak Gardens, Queens, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.The 58 year old driver from Northport was not injured in the crash.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
